Modern Family star Ariel Winter made an emotional appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to talk about her legal troubles and growing up in the entertainment industry. The last time the starlet made an appearance on the talk show was back when she was 13 and needless to say she’s been through a lot since then.
The main subject of discussion was Ariel’s emancipation from her mother. It took a three-year custody battle for Ariel to be seen as fully independent by law and now at 18, she can control her own money, living situation, and business endeavors. But as for the exact reason Ariel fought for emancipation, the actress was relatively mum, pun intended. “I don’t really talk about the reason that I don’t speak to my mother. It’s kind of been publicized, but the reason I don’t really share that is because I want to give her the respect that she didn’t give to me publicly.”
Ariel’s mother made the decision to go on Dr. Phil a couple years back where she aired out the family’s issues. Clearly Ariel is taking a different route.
Ariel also talked about the bullying she received after her breast reduction last year, as well as her hopes to attend college in the near future. We give this girl mad props for her maturity and we can all learn something from her!
